In the nuclear facility of Doel we have exchanged the position of two transformers. Because we possess an Habil clearance we have permission to work in a highly secured area like the one in Doel. The transformers weighed 200 tonnes each and were located on a site that was under construction. One transformer had been completely tested and had to replace the other. The other transformer just had to be connected, after the two had exchanged positions.
Two transformers changed positions
Because we were not allowed to work with a crane, we had to complete the job with a rail system. We supplied wooden bulkheads, steel plates, rails and a sled system. After we had changed the positions of the two transformers, of course we removed the temporary rails. Yet another assignment that we were able to execute flawlessly.
